ASSOCIATE
Ms. Areaux is a commercial and intellectual property attorney whose practice sits at the intersection of brand strategy, business transactions, and complex litigation. She advises corporate clients and consumer-facing companies on the legal decisions that shape how brands are built, protected, and taken to market.
Ms. Areaux serves as outside brand counsel to the leadership of a national consumer product company, advising the CEO and CMO on trademark clearance, enforcement, and infringement risk across product launches, packaging, labeling, and national distribution. She counsels clients on advertising and packaging compliance, trademark coexistence agreements, and sponsorship arrangements, with a keen eye toward minimizing litigation exposure while preserving commercial flexibility.
Her transactional practice spans the acquisition and sale of closely held businesses, franchise agreement structuring, e-commerce platform deals, and franchise disclosure compliance. She brings the same business-informed judgment to complex commercial litigation, managing matters from pleadings through trial preparation, with active involvement in discovery strategy, motion practice, and witness examination support.
Ms. Areaux also advises clients on data privacy and digital commerce, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA compliance, as well as SaaS agreements and privacy policy development for consumer-facing platforms.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Areaux externed in the in-house intellectual property department at Diageo North America, one of the world's leading premium beverage alcohol companies, an experience that shaped her practical, business-first approach to brand law. She also served as a legal intern in the Executive Office for Immigration Review, Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Robert J. Krask, U.S. Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Ms. Areaux received her J.D., cum laude, from William & Mary Law School in 2017 and her B.A. in Sociology, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2014. She joined the firm in 2018.
