David J. Scotton is a partner at the firm and has been with the firm since 2019. Mr. Scotton’s practice includes all types of business and commercial litigation, creditor’s rights, construction, contract, and property disputes, non-competition, non-solicitation, and breach of fiduciary duty litigation, successions, estate planning, and adoptions.
David received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, with a concentration in Political Communication, from Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication. He received his J.D. and Diploma in Comparative Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.
During law school, Mr. Scotton served on the Louisiana Law Review and Board of Advocates. Mr. Scotton also competed in several internal Moot Court competitions as well as the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition.
He served as an extern for the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office and was a law clerk under the firm’s summer clerkship program for two years. Mr. Scotton is proud to be the subject of the award-winning documentary “I Lived on Parker Avenue” and full feature film “Lifemark”. Lifemark released in theaters nationwide in 2022, grossed over $5.4M nationally and internationally, and reached Netflix’s Global Top 10 in the first week of its release in 2024 with 3.5 million views. David continues to advocate for and share his adoption story around the country and includes adoption as a portion of his practice.
