Carver Darden is pleased to announce that Stephen P. Scullin has been appointed as the Co-Chair of the Purchase and Sale Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.  The appointment is effective September 2023 and for the 2023-2024 bar year.

Mr. Scullin is a partner in the firm’s New Orleans office and his experience will be an important asset to the ABA Purchase and Sale Section. His tenure with Carver Darden has focused extensively on providing counsel to clients in the buying, selling, developing, and financing of real estate.  His legal acumen in this arena covers negotiating loan and security documents, guaranties, issuing opinions for secured lending transactions, and contract drafting, review and negotiation.

In addition to his extensive real estate and commercial transactions expertise, Mr. Scullin’s legal practice also includes organizational business activities from reorganization to merging and dissolving corporations, partnerships and joint ventures.  

The ABA Purchase and Sale Committee reviews current issues arising in land transfer cases, established business practices and customs in the field, with a special focus on analyzing provisions in transactions involving commercial purchases, as well as the associated sales agreements.  

Mr. Scullin’s wealth of experience and legal expertise will serve him well in his term as the Co-Chair of the ABA Purchase and Sale Committee.
